Continental lost the recipe for O-200 cylinders back when the Sport Cubs came out. Actually they started using a new sophisticated machine that took them back to grinding valves by hand for quite a while. hasn't been an issues in a while. I look at rebuilt cylinders like a time bomb, might go to TBO but might last 50 to 200 hours.

At one point, the O-100 was basically a new engine using O-200 cylinders and valve gear. I'm exaggerating a little, but not a lot. He backed off on that a little and brought more "stock" O-200 parts back in, because "perfect is the enemy of good enough." Pete and I talked about that a couple of times.
It covers the C-75, the C-85, the C-90 and the O-200. The latter 2 engines had different cranks, con rods and pistons. All 4 could use the same heads. The C-75 moves to the C-85 with a carb jet and other small changes (remark the tach!). An O-200 crank, rods and pistons can be put in a C-85 which would "stroke" it.

O-200's really hate 100LL, pay attention to how you lean it, keep an eye on temps, and re-check the compression after a few hours. if its fine, it could have been carbon or crud. if it needs to be spiked again i would say that there is something going on …
Rocker arms should be fixtured so the rocker arm shaft is parallel to the toe of the arm and the surfacing wheel or grinding wheel. The toe, the surface that contacts the the valve stem must be square with the valve stem. If not you will have high unit loading and spalling of the rocker arm toe.
